I can hardly believe that one year ago I put down in words that I was going to start training for a Triathlon! Where has the time gone. I overcame several injuries and made it to the Triathlon, I didn’t finish but I learned many lessons along the way.
After a few months off training completely and full recovery of a Neck and Shoulder injury, I am back to training. *finally*
Definitely learned a couple of big lessons:
- I was waaayyy to overconfident! My abilities and the time I spent training was barely adequate to perform the task and a very minor change in circumstances *bad weather* had a big impact to the outcome.
- I am still human and I had/have a hard time leaving excuses behind and just stepping into action.
December 2010 Challenge is to help me and you to get back into a consistent workout pattern.
Here are the guidelines:
- Perform 20+ Minutes of Level 5 effort – 5 Days a week.
- Keep track of your progress
Simple right! So the whole purpose is the consistency, if you can do more great, but get at least 20 minutes, 5 days a week.
We are not going to get into the technical stuff now, the simplest way to determine your level of effort is The Talk Test.
The Talk Test:
You should be able to carry on a conversation and still breathe comfortably, but not be able to sing. If you can sing the exercise, intensity may be too easy and take it up a notch.
Tracking
I am a big fan of journaling and tracking my progress, I like to see changes. You can join me in tracking in my spreadsheet.
Make a public commitment *it will help you stick to the plan* and keep track of your progress with a simple X marks the spot.
Jump over to the SpreadSheet and add your name now before you forget
